La banda de metal con sede en California Kingdom of Giants se complace en anunciar su nuevo álbum, «Passenger«, que saldrá a la venta el 16 de octubre en SharpTone Records. Kingdom of Giants se presenta con su cuarto álbum y el primero con su nueva compañía con una propuesta de metal moderno, post-hardcore o metalcore y un sonido en continua evolución en donde Dana Willax y el bajista Jonny Reeves comparten deberes vocales, combinando una mezcla de narraciones de gritos y cantos extraídos de cada una de sus experiencias de vida y obstáculos emocionales.
Es menos una pareja tradicional de gritos de metalcore / «vocalista limpio» y más parecido a la compensación en bandas como blink-182, en espíritu y estructura, si no en sonido. El triple ataque de guitarra de Max Bremer, Red Martin y Julian Perez salva la destreza técnica terriblemente agresiva para cuando tengan el mayor impacto. Se centran con destreza en ritmos constantes y pegadizos que encajan con Reeves y el baterista Truman Berlin, cuyas habilidades se encuentran entre los niveles más altos dentro del género.
La agrupación a continuado su crecimiento y «Passenger» es el siguiente paso lógico en donde vemos una banda no solo más madura, sino que además más compacta, ofreciéndonos un disco intenso de principio a fin, complejo, pero no por ello difícil de comprender. Posee todos los elementos propios del estilo, con su peculiar estilo y una fuerza extra en sus interpretaciones. Lo que a la postre hace que sea un disco muy intenso y dinámico.
Los cortes no son excesivamente extensos, pero si da pie a que la banda explore y se explaye de manera única con lo mejor de su repertorio, de allí que la escucha del disco se nos pueda pasar volando, pero es precisamente porque se disfruta bastante, a pesar de la fuerza que le han imprimido, han sabido llenarlo de detalles interesantes, consiguiendo con ello variedad de sonidos y que el oyente se introduzca de lleno en su nueva propuesta.
Hay un tema que me sobrecogió y que resume a la perfección lo detalles, energía y múltiples variables que posee el disco, y no es otro que la punzante «Bleach«, un corte que entra con un riff y posteriormente con un magistral efecto de teclados. Para posteriormente ofrecernos una base potente y contenida por momentos, que es sublime por como rompen esos momentos de calma. Un tema que define a la perfección el estilo y el nuevo estado de los californianos.
Con «Lost Hills» la banda mantiene una interesante aura, ya que este tema, posee también un inicio pausado y teclados intermedios, que simboliza una más que interesante alternativa al anterior corte de la lista «Bleach«. Es llamativo, como combinan a la perfección secciones en donde paran los instrumentos y se quedan solo las voces o los intermedios con punzantes efectos de teclados que aumentan las sensaciones en sus nuevos temas.
Un metalcore menos estilizado, si cabe la expresión, pero con abundante potencia y determinados momentos de variedad que le aportan los teclados con ciertos efectos, o cambios de ritmo que ofrecen una original combinación, como sucede en «Night Shift» o la instrumental «00397» que sirve de perfecta introducción a «Burner» un corte más violento.
Si bien la banda ha mantenido su formula y estilo impecable, del que además no debería moverse porque se mueven en él, de maravilla, si han conseguido dar un paso adelante en su oferta con temas pegadizos y una mayor grado de madurez en su sonido final que se nota en el producto total del disco; o lo que es lo mismo, un sonido compacto y una receta mejorada de temas solidos.
