Traduciendo literalmente a una persona «no deseada» o «inaceptable», PERSONA NON GRATA toca temas de la repugnancia y la degradación de la sociedad moderna. La banda se reunió en la casa de Tom Hunting en las montañas, donde produjeron y grabaron Persona Non Grata en tres estudios caseros. Steve Lagudi estaba al frente de la ingeniería mientras la banda contrató a Andy Sneap de Backstage Studios para mezclar el álbum. Por tercera vez en la historia de la banda, regresaron al artista sueco Par Olofsson para crear la obra de arte del álbum.
