La marca de la Artillería
Un Gran Danés nos visita hoy, con su esencia intacta, gran potencia y una descarga balística lista para unas detonaciones poderosas. Artillery nos trae “X”, un testimonio más de su legado y de su irrevocable estirpe.
No es que estuvieran ausentes en el camino, en lo absoluto; entre este álbum y su antecesor (The Face of Fear, 2018), tenemos una compilación (In the Trash, 2019), y un single (The last Journey, 2020). Los chavales – por así decirlo – han estado activos, y como prueba de ello, “X” está viendo la luz en este quinto mes del 2021.
Y es que de Trash Metal hablamos; duro, honesto, directo, potente. Una joya de la (put@) corona danesa para los y las amantes del género. Ahora bien, el báculo de Artilley nos remite a una era más clásica del Trash, jo’ la banda está en este mundo desde principios de los 80’s. Eso es historia y camino recorrido; es también experiencia, y acuñar cicatrices para evolucionar en la ruta. En mi humilde opinión, de eso va este álbum; se trata de una bocanada de fuerza, proveniente de una era primigenia que hoy sigue viva y pateando fuerte. Hemos de reconocer también al mágico destilador de música, hecho sello discográfico, Metal Blade chicas y chicos; el sello tiene el mérito de brindar cobijo a esta bestia atemporal del género, manteniendo viva su huella inexorable para la historia ¡Salud Metal Blade!
El disco nos trae temas magistralmente compuestos, currados y nada trillados. Escucho unas escalas, o melodías, que palpitan esencias de musicalización asiática por momentos; pero también, escucho fuerza y punch. La música es contundente, líneas potentes de bajo (lo cual personalmente me agrada muchísimo); además, la potencia en la percusión es trepidante. Por todos esos factores, diría que el alma del álbum es ciertamente envolvente; encuentro un balance encomiable en este disco, y eso se logra mediante una composición depurada, creo no existe otra vía alterna para conseguirlo.
“X” esta acuerpado por composiciones fuertes y arreglos sublimes. Creo que los Artillery se la han currado fuertemente para traernos una grata descarga de Trash inteligente y firme; fuerza pura en cada tema. Sin duda os digo que, si os mola el género, tenéis que darle una escucha seria a “X” para que os forméis un criterio profundo. A las gentes del Trash, os diría que este álbum merece el tiempo y la oportunidad. Desde diversos puntos de vista, podemos formarnos opiniones diferentes, ello será tema de apreciación y gustos.
El álbum registra amalgamas muy interesantes, sinceramente creo que fue producido con los altos estándares actuales, pero para destacar la potencia orgánica de Artillery; y quizás por ello el álbum palpita vida de principio a fin; es intenso, se respira intensidad en cada tema (aunque os encontréis una suerte de balada por ahí…) y esa intensidad es un sello distintivo de “X”. Sin duda, por acá hubo curro fuerte, así como también hay talento de sobra… ya hablamos de la experiencia, camino recorrido y cicatrices; así que, mezclad todo y aquí tenéis el producto final, un álbum de la ostia.
En la objetividad también debe existir honestidad o ética, llamadlo como queráis; y por eso, debo reconocer que yo prefiero las voces más kañeras y menos melódicas (eso debe estar relacionado a posibles daños neuronales ocasionados por la sobreexposición a la tralla, no lo sé aun… pero venga, es un tema de mi neurología y se puede pasar por alto sin problemas). Con esto no estoy desaprobando el curro en la voz de Michael Bastholm Dahl, en lo absoluto. Creo que el tío lo ha dado todo, sin reservas; pero, sí os digo que predomina una vocalización más melodiosa, e incluso diría hasta refinada. Sin embargo, la voz le viene bien al disco y eso va mucho más allá de “un gusto personal”, el cual puede perderse en lo subjetivo y alejarse del intento de mirada objetiva a la que nos debemos. Simplemente, quería mencionar ese detalle como parte de esta reseña, y pues nada… ¡Preparad vuestros sentidos para la descarga de estos cracks atemporales del Trash! ¡Salud Artillery, ostia!

The mark of Artillery
A Great Dane visits us today, with his essence intact, great power and a ballistic discharge ready for some powerful detonations. Artillery brings us «X», one more testimony of his legacy and his irrevocable lineage.
Not that they were absent on the road at all; Between this album and its predecessor (The Face of Fear, 2018), we have a compilation (In the Trash, 2019), and a single (The last Journey, 2020). The kids – so to speak – have been active, and as proof of this, «X» is seeing the light in this fifth month of 2021.
And we are talking about Trash Metal; tough, honest, direct, powerful. A jewel in the Danish (put @) crown for lovers of the genre. Now, Artilley’s staff takes us back to a more classic era of Trash, ho ’the band has been in this world since the early 80’s. That is history and the road traveled; it is also experience, and carving scars to evolve on the road. In my humble opinion, that’s what this album is about; it is a breath of strength, coming from a primeval era that is still alive today and kicking hard. We must also recognize the magical music distiller, made a record label, Metal Blade girls and boys; the label has the merit of providing shelter to this timeless beast of the genre, keeping alive its inexorable mark on history. The album brings us masterfully composed songs, currados and not at all hackneyed. I listen to some scales, or melodies, that palpitate Asian musical essences at times; but also, I hear force and punch. The music is hard-hitting, powerful bass lines (which I personally like a lot); In addition, the power in the percussion is frenetic. For all these factors, I would say that the soul of the album is certainly enveloping; I find a commendable balance on this album, and that is achieved through a refined composition, I think there is no other alternative way to achieve it.
«X» is embodied by strong compositions and sublime arrangements. I think the Artillery have worked hard to bring us a nice download of smart and firm Trash; sheer strength in every theme. Without a doubt I tell you that, if you like the genre, you have to give “X” a serious listen so that you can form a deep criterion. To the Trash people, I would say that this album deserves the time and the opportunity. From different points of view, we can form different opinions, this will be a matter of appreciation and taste.
The album records very interesting amalgamations, I honestly think it was produced to today’s high standards, but to highlight Artillery’s organic power; and perhaps that is why the album beats life from beginning to end; It is intense, intensity is breathed in each song (although you may find a kind of ballad out there…) and that intensity is a hallmark of “X”. Undoubtedly, here there was strong work, as well as there is plenty of talent… we already talked about the experience, the road traveled and the scars; so, mix everything up and here you have the final product, an album of the ostia.
In objectivity there must also be honesty or ethics, call it whatever you want; and for that reason, I must admit that I prefer the more kañeras and less melodic voices (this must be related to possible neuronal damage caused by overexposure to whiplash, I don’t know yet … but come on, it’s a matter of my neurology and you can skip without issue). With this I am not disapproving of the gimmick in Michael Bastholm Dahl’s voice, at all. I think the uncle has given everything, without reservation; but, I do tell you that a more melodious vocalization predominates, and I would even say refined. However, the voice is good for the album and that goes much further than «personal taste», which can get lost in the subjective and move away from the attempt at an objective look to which we owe ourselves. I just wanted to mention that detail as part of this review, and then nothing … Prepare your senses for the download of these timeless cracks from Trash! Cheers Artillery, ostia!
