Segundo larga duración de esta banda de Costa Rica que lleva una década en esto y que tiene muy claros cuáles son sus parámetros sonoros. Basta con escuchar «Suffer this hell», el tema de apertura, para descubrir que lo suyo es el metal progresivo al estilo de Opeth, pero con pinceladas de Dream Theater y otras bandas más potentes como Fear Factory.

«Endless Chaos» entronca directamente con el thrash metal al estilo de Kreator y resulta un temazo repleto de matices sonoros que recuerdan a los mejores Metallica, pero siempre llevándose a su terreno la melodía y la estructura de semejante temazo. En «El opio del pueblo» te dejan seco desde el primer cañonazo, una base sonora potente se da la mano con una letra rabiosa que te dará bastante fuerte en la cara. Increíble la calidad de otro gran corte.

En «Tame the beast» se mueven más hacia el rock progresivo, pero sin olvidar el metal. Esas líneas de guitarra a lo Rush fundidas con la máxima energía dan como resultado una canción perfecta. «Mystic roads» es justo lo que te esperas de una banda como esta. Hay que atreverse a saltar sin red, a darle una vuelta de tuerca a las melodías, a crear pasajes sonoros que tienen una influencia de la música clásica y, en definitiva, a dejar atrás lo de siempre para mostrar cómo debería ser el metal en el futuro. Lo mejor es que el grupo demuestra su excelente formación musical para marcarse un tema complicado y perfectamente ejecutado.

«The serpent» es un medio tiempo combinado con estrofas bastante potentes. Te lo venimos comentando, se empeñan en sorprenderte, en no caer en lo fácil y en convertir cada riff en una decidida apuesta por conquistarte con su genialidad. «The butcher» es puro thrash metal de la Bay Area de los 80, pero con evoluciones sonoras salidas del presente siglo. Puede ser la canción que les abra todas las puertas posibles para su éxito mundial. «The abyss» comienza con un fraseo de guitarra que se ve envuelto en una espiral sonora de la que te será imposible salir. El equilibrio entre la potencia y la elegancia nos muestra a un grupo que da el 1000 % por demostrar su indudable valía.

«Insanity» es un claro ejemplo de cómo el metal alternativo también tiene cabida en esta obra para conseguir una canción más que recomendable. «The raven» es, desde su inicio, otro de los grandes temas del álbum. Tiene la clásica estructura de los 80, pero siempre con ese guiño a su propio sonido y con esa reinterpretación del metal que tan bien ejecuta el grupo. Se termina el álbum con «11», una especie de «Planet Caravan» que se convierte en el merecido descanso del guerrero. Impresionante.

Lo tienen todo para triunfar y para empezar ya a tocar en los festivales europeos más importantes. Esperemos que así sea, pero mientras tanto búscalos en las plataformas de streaming para disfrutar al máximo de un disco que será el espaldarazo definitivo a la carrera de Outside the circle.
