UN ÉPICO Y PROFUNDO ATAQUE FINLANDÉS
Después de un largo viaje, muy basto y diverso; el retorno de una deidad finlandesa nos impacta cual tormenta de frio nórdico, despiadada e inmisericorde. Y es que el periplo de …and Oceans ha sido uno muy particular, no son más de 20 años en vano; y con bien habido gusto, recibimos una muy grata e inesperada sorpresa ¡Joder!
Hablamos de una banda que ha trascendido su historia para traernos una ostia bien pensada y ejecutada, en este extraño 2020. Por ello, nos recarga y refresca, de manera que está totalmente recomendada para poner algo de caña al proceso que nos queda por recorrer de cara a pillarnos un mini en algún sitio de preferencia (cuando leamos esto en el futuro, nos preguntaremos ¿de qué co-jones está hablando?, así será porque esto pasará).
En lo personal, me he llevado una sorpresa muy importante con “Cosmic World Mother”; peña, es que no me esperaba que la vuelta al ruedo de la banda tuviese este tono de guerra, potencia, por momentos algo de melancolía, pero también una fuerte dosis de tralla poco convencional, bien orquestada/arreglada. Quizás, caí un poco víctima de alguna suerte de estereotipo (con lo que los detesto, y realmente te puedes pillar los dedos en la trampa…); sin embargo, con todo el gusto del mundo, me trago mis dudas para decirles que, si os mola el Black Metal bien currado, cañero y con una musicalidad/sinfonía/melodía profundamente hilvanada y bien ejecutada; definitivamente, no os podéis perder de esta entrega épica y potente apadrinada por el siempre bien posicionado sello francés, Season of Mist.
Diría que el álbum te lleva por pasajes, inicia directo y conciso con “The Dissolution of Mind and Matter”, la cual creo que es una muestra perfecta de lo que será el viaje de inicio a fin, nos pilla del cuello chicos y chicas, y no nos suelta. Vas canción por canción sintiendo que hay un aura nada convencional, no te das cuenta y vas en un laberinto, en el buen sentido; “Cosmic World Mother” te abstrae porque transporta consigo diferentes atmósferas que puedes percibir en cada canción.
Para un oído purista, el disco podría sonar monótono o quizás plano, en algún sentido; sin embargo, en mi humilde opinión creo que ello tiene que ver con que en efecto se trata de un disco denso, y si no estás preparado para la descarga, te llena la cabeza en un dos por tres.
Tomando en cuenta que …and Oceans es categorizado al momento, como una banda Industrial Electronic Metal (Biblioteca Metallum, 2020.), os diría que no esperéis absolutamente nada eso de este álbum; lamento si ello os decepciona, pero “Cosmic World Mother” es un testimonio de un regreso al Black Metal Sinfónico (porque en efecto hay orquestación y teclados, bien currados); pero también con una dosis de tralla importante, que propone abrir tu mente a la evolución de la banda y a su propuesta musical actual.
Animaros a probar con mente abierta y ya sabiendo a lo que vais, si andáis buscando densidad, potencia, un aura épica particular, tralla y Black Metal bien compuesto y producido, creo que os encontraréis a gusto acá.
AN EPIC AND DEEP FINLAND ATTACK
After a long journey, very rough and diverse; The return of a Finnish deity strikes us like a cold, merciless and Nordic cold storm. And it is that the journey of And Oceans has been a very particular one, it is not more than 20 years in vain; and with good pleasure, we received a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Damn!
We are talking about a band that has transcended its history to bring us a well thought-out and executed ostia, in this strange 2020. For this reason, it recharges and refreshes us, so it is totally recommended to put some cane to the process that we have to go through. In order to catch us a mini somewhere of preference (when we read this in the future, we will ask ourselves, what the hell are you talking about ?, it will be because this will happen).
Personally, I have had a very important surprise with «Cosmic World Mother»; rock, is that I did not expect that the return to the ring of the band had this tone of war, power, at times some melancholy, but also a strong dose of unconventional, well orchestrated / arranged. Maybe, I fell a little victim of some kind of stereotype (which I detest, and you can really catch your fingers in the trap …); However, with all the pleasure in the world, I swallow my doubts to tell you that, if you like cool, well-worked Black Metal, with a musicality / symphony / melody deeply basted and well executed; You definitely can’t miss this epic and powerful installment sponsored by the always well-positioned French label, Season of Mist.
I would say that the album takes you through passages, it starts direct and concise with “The Dissolution of Mind and Matter”, which I think is a perfect sample of what the journey will be from start to finish, it catches us by the neck, boys and girls, and it does not release us. You go song by song feeling that there is an unconventional aura, you don’t realize it and you go in a maze, in a good way; «Cosmic World Mother» abstracts you because it carries with it different atmospheres that you can perceive in each song.
To a purist ear, the record might sound monotonous or perhaps flat, in some sense; However, in my humble opinion I think this has to do with the fact that it is indeed a dense disk, and if you are not prepared for the download, it fills your head in a two by three.
Taking into account that And Oceans is currently categorized as an Industrial Electronic Metal band (Metallum Library, 2020.), I would say that you don’t expect absolutely anything from this album; I am sorry if this disappoints you, but «Cosmic World Mother» is a testimony to a return to Symphonic Black Metal (because there is indeed orchestration and keyboards, well worked); but also with an important dose of bullshit, which proposes to open your mind to the evolution of the band and its current musical proposal.
Encourage you to try with an open mind and already knowing what you are going for, if you are looking for density, power, a particular epic aura, whiplash and Black Metal well composed and produced, I think you will be at ease here.
