Warbringer es el thrash metal como se hacia en antaño

Weapoms Of Tomorrow nos remite al sonido de la vieja escuela con un sonido aplastante y un buen gusto por temas poderosos, ya sean estos rápidos, de dobles tiempos debido a una potente base de batería que le añade a sus nuevos cortes una resonancia única y especial. De allí que toda esa potencia que nos vamos a encontrar nos remite a los grandes clásicos de inicios del género en los 80 s no por ello es fácil rememorar con la escucha bandas como Exodus, Testament u Overkill por citar algunas y de las bandas más recientes la más similar es sin duda Suicidal Angels.

Una obra maestra en rítmicas y alucinantes solos, des la entrada fuerte con «Firepower Kills» toda una declaración de guerra por su exuberante agresividad, que no es otra cosa que el estilo en su estado más natural. Luego le siguen dos cortes de medios tiempos «The Black Hand Reaches Out» y con una marcha más «Crushed Beneath The Tracks» ambos con secciones lentas y armoniosos bases rítmicas y cambios de estilo que nos hacen darnos cuenta que además de la fortaleza del estilo estamos ante un disco muy técnico, dato que nos lo termina de demostrar la singular «Defiance Of Fate» un tema lento, pero insisto, con mucha fuerza gracias a la energía que le imprime Kevil en las voces y al trabajo de Carlos Cruz en la batería. Un tema que bien merece degustarlo con calma tras sus más de siete minutos y toda una pieza de colección que posee un amplio solo y un desarrollo único y muy atractivo en donde la banda nos demuestra su amplio registro de opciones en la parte creativa.

«Unravelling» nos lleva a la parte más extrema en lo que a velocidad y solidez se refiere desde sus primeros acordes, hasta terminar con un tiempo más relajado, no por ello menos atractivo. «Heart Of Darkness» nos sorprende con unas guitarras y bajo en plan solitario y lento, como preámbulo a una entrada firme, en otro tema de más de siete minutos que nos hace recordar de nuevo esos cortes largos no muy habitual en el estilo como sucedía en discos clásicos como el The Years Of Decay (1989) de Overkill o el Victims Of Deception (1991) de Heathen. Este tema nos ofrece, gracias a su duración, distintas facetas con un tinte más depurado y técnico, claro sin perder un ápice su fuerza, pero en el que encontramos distintos y jugosos cambios de ritmo en otra pieza que es sensacional y en donde Warbringer saca a relucir todo su talento en el que puede llegar a ser su mejor disco de su carrera, gracias a lo variado del disco sin perder con ello vigor.

Las claves del disco, básicamente lo podríamos resumir, en que es un álbum en el que no sobra un solo tema y en el que la banda tras cinco discos anteriores, pone de manifiesto y en el asador todo su potencial y lo aprendido en estos años realizando por tanto un disco brillante, no solo por lo que representa el thrash metal como estilo sólido sino que también nos ofrecen un disco lleno de texturas y matices en cambios de ritmo y elaborados rifs que hacen de su escucha toda una delicia y no es extraño que para los que tenemos unos años, nos haga recordar épocas gloriosas de cuando el estilo empezaba a caminar. Si sumamos todas esas sensaciones, con la experiencia del presente, Warbringer nos ofrece un trabajo exquisito de metal.
