Regresan Infanteria, el trío sudafricano de thrash metal progresivo que ha pasado los últimos 28 meses dándole forma a este disco. «Burnt relic» abre el fuego, nunca mejor dicho, con un thrash lleno de pinceladas elegantes en los que no se olvida la melodía y se introducen elementos progresivos que nos recuerdan un poco a lo que está haciendo Kreator en sus últimos discos. Enorme.

«Raging bastards» retoma la senda sonora de bandas como Slayer, pero siempre llevándose la música a su terreno. La melodía vocal es de metal alternativo y el resultado es un tema con mucha calidad. «Into the depths» comienza con un ambiente tranquilo que rompen las guitarras como mandan los cánones. El tema crece a cada segundo hasta convertirse en un homenaje a los medios tiempos, aunque incluye pasajes rápidos de gran precisión técnica.

«All I ever lost» es un corte tranquilo que va in crescendo hacia su final y sirve, prácticamente, de introducción al tema siguiente: «Swansong». Este comienza también con una acústica que se va convirtiendo en un riff demoledor que confirma el excelente estado de forma del trío. Los tres músicos están a un nivel impresionante y aquí confirman que son capaces de afrontar estructuras musicales tan complicadas como arrebatadoras.

«Embrace the trauma» es un regreso al thrash de los 80, sin piedad, sin dejarte respirar y directo a tu cerebro. Con el anterior, es uno de los cortes más potentes del disco. «Repent through orders you seek» tiene pinceladas de Primus al inicio y un riff que recuerda a los primeros Metallica. La mezcla de elementos no altera el producto final: un temazo.

«Patriarch» le pone el punto final a este gran álbum. El inicio lento se convierte en una parte central llena de sentimiento. En el bridge destapan el tarro de las esencias para confirmar que no tienen nada que ver con cualquier otra banda. Vaya derroche de calidad.

Bastará con que algún festival europeo les llame para que engrandezcan su historia. Son muy superiores a cualquiera de las bandas de nivel medio del viejo continente y tienen muchísimo que decir y que aportar. Además, la excelente producción de este disco juega a su favor para que sea el que se convierta en el definitivo para dar el gran salto a la fama. Te sorprenderán.
