Crítica de VESTA – «Odyssey» – Argonauta Records

Segundo disco del trío italiano Vesta que consiguió la aceptación de la crítica y el público con su álbum de debut. Ellos mismos comentan que su concepto de la música es unirse para expresar algo de forma conjunta, sin límites y sin ceñirse a un género musical específico. «Elohim» es un perfecto ejemplo de esta filosofía. La entrada progresiva de los instrumentos, el riff in crescendo, la construcción de la base de la canción paso a paso, la forma de reventarte la cabeza con una estructura en espiral que recuerda a Tool y la inmensa calidad del corte son avales suficientes como para seguir escuchando el disco.

«Tumæ» arranca más despacio, sin prisas, pero no tarda en llegar un riff que se va desenvolviendo ante tus oídos con maestría hasta lograr la perfección en la parte central del tema donde se pasan al rock progresivo sin complejos y con acierto. «Breach» incluso entronca con el metal más duro gracias a un riff demoledor que se completa con pinceladas melódicas de alto interés, de nuevo los pasajes más calmados crean ese descanso necesario para retomar la inercia que te lleva al gran final.

«Juno» apuesta más por un ritmo pausado, repetitivo hasta que se convierte en mantra, poderoso que se para de pronto para demostrar la inmensa calidad de los músicos del trío. Su enorme capacidad para aprovechar al máximo las cualidades de una base simple nos sorprende gratamente. «Borealis» va a por todas desde su comienzo, un riff que parece simple, pero que termina convirtiéndose en un círculo perfecto lleno de matices, es el gran protagonista de un gran corte.

«Temple» tira de esas bases casi de jazz que la banda combina con el progresivo más técnico. Es, posiblemente, la canción en la que demuestran tener menos problemas para darle rienda suelta a su creatividad. Hacia el final ponen a prueba el riff logrando un más que merecido éxito. «Supernova» empieza y concluye como lo que es, un viaje sideral a un abismo negro de lo más potente en lo sonoro. «Cerere» cierra, con sobresaliente,el disco aunando todo lo anterior en un gran tema.

Si te va el metal progresivo, no aburrirte con un disco y disfrutar con cada escucha, pueden convertirse en tu grupo favorito. Disfrutarás seguro.

Second album by the Italian trio Vesta that achieved critical and public acceptance with their debut album. They themselves comment that their concept of music is to come together to express something together, without limits and without sticking to a specific musical genre. «Elohim» is a perfect example of this philosophy. The progressive input of the instruments, the riff in crescendo, the construction of the base of the song step by step, the way of popping your head with a spiral structure reminiscent of Tool and the immense quality of the cut are enough endorsements to keep listening to the disc.

«Tumæ» starts more slowly, without haste, but it doesn’t take long to get a riff that unfolds before your ears with mastery until it achieves perfection in the central part of the song where they move on to progressive rock without complexes and with success. «Breach» even connects with the hardest metal thanks to a devastating riff that is completed with melodic brushstrokes of high interest, again the calmer passages create that rest necessary to regain the inertia that takes you to the grand finale.

«Juno» bets more on a slow rhythm, repetitive until it becomes a mantra, powerful that suddenly stops to demonstrate the immense quality of the trio’s musicians. Its enormous ability to take full advantage of the qualities of a simple base pleasantly surprises us. «Borealis» has gone all the way from the beginning, a riff that seems simple, but ends up becoming a perfect circle full of nuances, it is the great protagonist of a great cut.

«Temple» draws on those almost jazzy bases that the band combines with the more technical progressive. It is, possibly, the song in which they demonstrate to have less problems to unleash their creativity. Towards the end they put the riff to the test achieving a more than deserved success. «Supernova» begins and ends as what it is, a sidereal journey to a black abyss of the most powerful in sound. «Cerere» closes, with an outstanding note, the album combining all the above in a great theme.

If you are into progressive metal, don’t get bored with an album and enjoy every listen, they can become your favorite group. You will enjoy for sure.
