Crítica de Falling Forward - Robyn Ferguson

(English Below) Para los amantes de la guitarra, nos encontramos este exquisito EP denominado Falling Forward de la guitarrista Surafricana Robyn Ferguson que nos obsequia con seis temas justo un año después de su debut en solitario con el álbum Alizaran.

Un Ep que ha significado también un reto personal por lo que si profundizamos más en el valor que estos seis temas, poseen, irían más allá de lo meramente instrumental. De allí quizás que las emociones que estos cortes nos trasladan son quizás aún más intensas.

El Ep lo inicia «Gravity«, un corte heavy muy potente con unos llamativos punteos que son sin duda toda una exquisitez. El tema mantiene una línea intensa, que hacia la mitad da paso a una cierta desaceleración para ofrecernos otros matices y con ello añadir a la pieza distintas facetas dinámicas bastantes sugerentes.

El segundo corte «Oxygen» es sin duda uno de mis favoritos, con una base más lenta y densa. El tema ofrece unas líneas muy emotivas, siempre con unos cimientos fuertes en donde Robyn va desgranando distintos solos, pero todos ellos con una carga emocional muy sólida, de allí lo sugerente de la canción.

«Carbon» es un tema lento pero aun así con musculo. El corte dentro de su fisonomía sosegada va menguando paso a paso, pero sin perder con ello encanto gracias sobre todo a los pequeños detalles que nos ofrece.

«Cloud» vendría a ser la continuación perfecta de «Carbon» ya que con un inicio lento, el tema sube de pronto con fuerza, gracias a los potentes riffs que le añade Ferguson para culminarlos con un solo potente apoyado por una batería igual de vigorosa. Me gusta con la canción posee sus idas y venidas, sus altas y bajas, en menos de tres minutos, consiguiendo con ello ser un tema que acumula mucha energía en un espacio reducido de tiempo

El disco lo cierran «Petrichor» un corte sosegado de apenas 1:45 que viene a ser la antesala de un final aguerrido y fuerte con la última «The Fall«.

Si lo vuestro son los guitarristas, aquí tenéis una mujer que interpreta el heavy con tintes progresivos con sentimiento y toda una nueva visión que os invito a descubrir. Un EP corto, pero intenso en emociones.

For guitar lovers, we find this exquisite EP called Falling Forward by South African guitarist Robyn Ferguson, who presents us with six songs just one year after his solo debut with the album Alizaran.

An Ep that has also meant a personal challenge so if we go deeper into the value that these six themes have, they would go beyond what is merely instrumental. Hence perhaps the emotions that these cuts convey to us are perhaps even more intense.

The Ep begins «Gravity», a very powerful heavy cut with striking dots that are without a doubt a delicacy. The theme maintains an intense line, which towards the middle gives way to a certain deceleration to offer us other nuances and thus add different suggestive dynamic facets to the piece.

The second cut «Oxygen» is without a doubt one of my favorites, with a slower and denser base. The theme offers very emotional lines, always with a strong foundation where Robyn is shelling different solos, but all of them with a very solid emotional charge, hence the suggestiveness of the song.

«Carbon» is a slow track but still with muscle. The cut inside its calm physiognomy is decreasing step by step, but without losing its charm thanks especially to the small details it offers us.

«Cloud» would be the perfect continuation of «Carbon» since with a slow start, the song suddenly rises with force, thanks to the powerful riffs that Ferguson adds to it, culminating them with a powerful solo supported by an equally vigorous battery . I like with the song it has its comings and goings, its ups and downs, in less than three minutes, thus achieving a theme that accumulates a lot of energy in a short space of time

The album is closed by «Petrichor», a calm cut of just 1:45 that comes to be the prelude to a seasoned and strong end with the latest «The Fall».
